East Coast Conference Women Ministries
April 1, 2011

Dear Women Ministries Friends ~

Enclosed is a form to help guide your giving to support Women Ministries in the East Coast Conference of the Evangelical Covenant Church. (The ECC is Covenant Churches from Maine to Virginia. “ECC” is also used to refer to the Evangelical Covenant Church. It's confusing, we know.) This letter is to help explain where the money you send is spent.

East Coast Conference Women Ministries receives no support from the East Coast Conference budget to which all churches contribute. Our only support comes from you, the Women Ministries groups of the Conference churches.

Now that the People Mover project for Pilgrim Pines is complete, our conference project is promoting Advocacy for Victims of Abuse and our AVA Coordinator, Colleen Cox. The funding will provide resources for Colleen to help our churches understand abuse and our role with the Lord in bringing support and healing for victims. Contact Colleen to arrange a visit! Our budget goal for AVA is $3,000 for 2011.

Sisters in International Mission is how we support Covenant women on the mission field. They receive $ for projects they have chosen, as well as a small monetary gift for their birthday. We currently have 4 active missionaries and 6 retired missionaries assigned by the denomination to support. Our budget total is $1,450. for 2011.

Raise the Flag allows us to help a Covenant sister from another country to attend Triennial. In 2010, she was from Spain. Our 2011 budget goal is $1,000.

Denominational Support is sent to Women Ministries in Chicago. Our 2011 budget goal is $1,300. The denominational office gets no support from the denomination. Their only source of funding is the women of the Covenant.

East Coast Conference Women Ministries Support covers printing and postage, website fees, travel expenses for the Chairwoman to denominational board meetings, Annual Celebration expenses, etc. Our budget goal is $6,000.

We ask for your prayers. Our goal is to connect the women of the East Coast Conference through the Annual Celebration in May, retreat in September, the ecc.women.org website, and newsletters, and equip women to grow, serve, and reach others for Christ. Thank you!

With love in Christ ~

Current Sisters in International Mission (SIM) Relationships to Change

East Coast Conference Women Ministries SIM assignments will be changing in January 2011. The denominational office has already distributed new names to each conference and you will be receiving your local group’s contact in the beginning of the year. Now is the time to send final official greetings to our current contacts: Cathy Campobello in Columbia, Nancy Jo Hoover in Central Asia, Andrea Johnson in Japan, Magui Guimares in Brazil, Letha Kerl serving as co-director for Europe and Russia, and Ronna Husby who retired as Asia Regional Coordinator when her husband was reassigned to the denominational office in Chicago.

In case you didn’t know, the acronym SIM stands for Special Interest Missionary or Sisters in International Mission. The goal of the SIM program is for every Covenant woman missionary – single, married, active, retired, or project – to be partnered with specific Women Ministries affiliates in local Covenant churches. This crucial networking between missionary and home support group begins when each Covenant woman missionary is linked with one of the ten Conferences for a three-year period beginning and ending the January after the Triennial International Women’s Conference. Every three years, SIMs are connected with a different conference. This way the network of relationships grows as each affiliate experiences the breadth of our global mission. Dynamic relationships between our women missionaries and local affiliates are built as they get to know the SIMs and support them.

The Special Interest Missionary program was created to support all career missionaries equally with two annual gifts and other prayerful support, and it continues to this day. Individual churches are invited to send their contributions to the conference WM Board rather than the denominational office. The board budgets to ensure each SIM receives a $25 birthday gift and a $250 special project gift and contributions from the local WM groups help to stretch conference funds.

And, if your group has not yet contributed to the birthday and special assignment gifts for our current contacts, there is still time. Listed below are this year’s special projects.

Gifts for SIM birthdays and projects may be sent to the WM Conference Board Treasurer at this address:
